SOME BACKGROUND INFO:

What's an MP3?..............An MP3 (MPEG Layer 3) is simply compressed audio that can be played by computers.   A normal audio track that can be stored on a computer is about 10 megabytes per minute.

Using MP3 compression this is compressed at about a 12:1 ratio, therefore, depending on the quality of the recording, you can fit more than a minutes sound in one megabyte.  If recorded properly, an MP3 is equivalent to CD quality sound.

To play an MP3 you need a special MP3 player, otherwise known as a decoder, it simply uncompressed and plays the music. Most types of music can be found on the Internet, it's just a matter of finding it.  A standard 4 minutes audio track is around 3.5 megs, this means you can download the music in about 15 minutes at 33.6 providing you and the server are fast.

You also need a fairly quick computer to play music and use you computer at the same time. You would probably need a Pentium-class PC to listen to music and use the computer at the same time. A 16-bit sound card is also required, otherwise its just not worth it. Most people would attempt to play MP3's through the standard 'free' SoundBlaster speakers. But the only way to get proper CD quality is plug a pair of earphones in or run the sounds through a real stereo or a good pair of self amplified speakers. I hope the above has been very enlightening, but I know you just want to play the music.
